I'll be gone by then
I was invited to show in "Galleri 1,59" in Bergen, Norway. For the very special room I recreated a work by fellow student Andi Peiffer. A steel wire was surrounding the gallery space, connected to two strong electic motors and a timer. Every once in a while, the motors would tug the wire back and forth, slowing cutting deeper into the gallery's walls.
Nobody had seen the machine running. Still, progress could be observed - the machine was obviously working. This elusiveness created a lot of interest, a group of dedicated visitors returned regularily during the time of the exhibition.
Both motors were burnt out even before I installed them into the gallery - I substituted machine with man every night and worked half an hour each night, moving the wire with my hands. This had been planned beforehand, and was revealed to the gallerists only after the exhibition was taken down.
